Our priority areas

  • Drugs Inclusion Health & Anti-Social Behaviour

Under this theme, the LCSP aim to bolster policing responses to overt drug dealing and drug use, while also providing additional measures to address anti-social behaviour. Overt drug-dealing and drug-use significantly impact both safety and perception of safety in areas where this behaviour is prevalent. By working in collaboration with relevant state agencies we aim to deliver strategic responses. The goal is to restore and maintain a safe and more secure environment for all.

These aims include supporting those in active addiction by providing access to harm reduction opportunities, facilitating more possible entry to recovery programmes, and meeting their health needs. Through these collaborative efforts with our partner members we aim to enhance the wellbeing and safety of our community.

In order to make Dublin safer, there is also a need to break cycles of inter-generational poverty and drug addiction

  • Family, Youth, Older Persons & Community

Through working with our partners in Family, Youth & Community, we aim to ensure that the NIC is a location where people and communities are and feel safe, and can move through their communities feeling safe and at ease in their neighbourhoods. This will be achieved through greater collaboration between agencies, both statutory and voluntary, working together to achieve the common goal of safety.

  • Education & Lifelong Learning

Through our work with our partners in Education & Lifelong Learning, our goal is to enhance opportunities for people living in the North Inner City to enter and re-enter education across their lifespan. Whether they’re entering further education and the workforce for the first time as teenagers or young adults, re-entering education after periods, whole-life education, with earliest possible access to include pre-natal education and supports for expectant mothers where possible.

Our Partners aim to create an inclusive culture that supports career, education and life choices for all.

  • Integration, Ethnic, and Multi-Faith Inclusion

Through our work towards Integration, Ethnic, and Multi-faith inclusion, our goal is to ensure that members of the NIC are supported when they enter periods of crisis or vulnerability in their lives. Our aim is to support the integration of new members of the NIC community, and greater integration of communities of different races, ethnicities, cultures, religions and gender and sexual identities.

By providing this support, we hope to foster a stronger, more resilient community for all.

We will do this by fostering a deeper understanding of each other’s faith, cultural practices, and gender and sexual identities while also actively challenging the spread of rumours.

  • Physical Environment

In our work with our partners under the Physical Environment, we aim to enhance the existing built environment. With the objectives of creating a sense of pride in the locality, and engaging communities to encourage a sense of ownership, we aim to ensure the North Inner City is a safe and welcoming place, building a clean, well presented, cared for and safe environment.
